Benefits of Electronic Claims

The Electronic Claims module uses a modem to automatically transmit your billing to a third party firm for processing. The claims module is designed so that you can "download" billing information electronically on a regular basis without the problems associated with producing invoices.

In 1987, over 4 billion claims were processed nationwide. Approximately 6 billion claims were handled in 1990. Currently, some 500 million claims are submitted to medical insurers for payment each month—approximately 90% on paper. Many inefficiencies result from a "paper claims" system. For example, payment of a paper claim takes considerable time, sometimes as long as 90 or more days. In addition to processing expenses being inordinately high, human error in paper claims can result in more than one-third of all claims being suspended.

There are some very good reasons to use Electronic Claims Submission:

.:	Average processing expense per claim can drop by 2/3 when forwarded electronically.
.:	Claim suspensions may fall from over 30 percent to 2 or 3 percent.
.:	Claim payment time will be dramatically reduced from the paper claim average of 60 days to approximately 14 days.
